What is DigitallyU Scrapbook? top
DigitallyU Scrapbook is an interactive multimedia family album. If you know how to use a digital camera and a Windows© PC, you’re ready to go. Just insert your family’s digital photos, video, mp3 audio, and begin. Using DigitallyU is as easy as attaching a file to an email.
Storytelling is an important part of the family dynamic. DigitallyU provides the means for families to be digital storytellers with emphasis on the human voice for narration, digital photography, digital video, and creative writing. DigitallyU provides a very simple interface that brings all your family content together into a rich digital story. DigitallyU Scrapbook also allows you to also broadcast Web video and audio narrated slideshows.

We will never give your name, email address, or anything about you to anyone, period.
Why does a DigitallyU Scrapbook provide greater privacy? top
Your DigitallyU Scrapbook will be automatically generated in Flash after you build it. (Don’t worry, you don’t have to know Flash). Web search engines (spiders) are not optimized to efficiently search and sniff Flash content. Since your Web site is generated in Flash this affords you greater privacy. Search engines are optimized to search and find html content. Also, when your Scrapbook is completed, you have the option of presenting it face-to-face versus launching a Web site.
What do I need before I build a DigitallyU Scrapbook? top
You need a digital camera, a PC running Windows, DigitallyU Scrapbook software, and your digital content. Your digital content will come from the following sources:
  1. Digital camera: for photos and video
  2. PC audio recording software – you don't need this to use DigitallyU Scrapbook but if you want to include mp3 audio (music or audio narration) to accompany photos then you must have audio recording software on your PC.
  3. A PC running Windows.
Note: It's very important to know that DigitallyU Scrapbook allows you to place your multimedia content into our application to publish as a Web site or show face-to-face in a presentation. DigitallyU does not create or edit your content, but serves as a place to put your digital content after you create it. For example, DigitallyU doesn’t create video, photos, or audio recordings. You do.
What should I think about before I build my DigitallyU Scrapbook? top
Think of your DigitallyU portfolio as a documentary or digital story about your family. You and your family have experienced things that words cannot describe. Your activities, events, and achievements are multifaceted and meant to be showcased using multimedia. Look how online news organizations broadcast breaking news and feature stories. DigitallyU provides the means for you to broadcast your story as good as any online news organization.
What type of content should I gather for my DigitallyU Scrapbook? top
You might have some media content to start now. That content might include photos, video, audio and documents from family reunions, birthday parties, holidays, and other events. You might also have combinations of video, audio, photographs or documents that show musical performance, your childrens' athletic events, artistic works, and the like.
How do I put my media into my DigitallyU Scrapbook? top
You just drop your media into your DigitallyU Scrapbook just like you attach files to an email. We also provide animated demonstrations of all DigitallyU Scrapbook functions in our "Help" module.
What types of media can I put in my DigitallyU Scrapbook? top
DigitallyU accepts your JPEG photo files, mp3 audio files, MS Word© or PDF© documents, and digital video. See our user manual for listing of video formats after you download our free 21 day trial.
What is JPEG and what type of photos should I use in DigitallyU Scrapbook? top
Use JPEG photos. Short for Joint Photographic Experts Group, and pronounced jay-peg. The JPEG format reduces (compresses) your photo file sizes to about 5% of their normal size. Most photos taken with a digital camera are in JPEG format. This is good because you can load your photos directly from your camera into your DigitallyU portfolio. Use landscape format digital photos versus portrait photos. Landscape means holding your camera left to right versus vertically. A vertical photo is known as a "portrait" format.
What is mp3 audio? top
The name MP3 stands for Mpeg 1 Audio Layer 3. But you don’t have to worry about that techno-speak. You’ll record your mp3 audio narratives to accompany your photos or slideshows to advance your story. DigitallyU automatically recognizes the mp3 audio files so you can just drop it in. Many Windows PCs come equipped with basic audio recording capability. DigitallyU Scrapbook cannot record audio. It accepts pre-recorded audio files.
Can I put music into my DigitallyU Scrapbook? top
Published music is protected under federal copyright laws. Generally, you must first get permission from the copyright owner to place copyrighted works in your portfolio. Similar laws apply to images and other content.
How do I make my video play in DigitallyU Scrapbook? top
There are three steps. First step-shoot your video with a digital camera. Second step-copy the video on to your computer. Third step-convert (encode) your video to run in DigitallyU Scrapbook with our built-in video converter. You’ll see the video converter when you download the software. This converter converts your video to Flash so it plays in DigitallyU Scrapbook. We also provide animated demonstrations of how to do all this in our software. You’ll see this demo when you download our software.
What will my DigitallyU Scrapbook look like when I complete it? top
You will have twenty (20) Web site designs to choose from. You can preview your Web site by clicking on one of the designs and immediately see your Web site design change until you decide which design suits you.
Can I create more than one Scrapbook? top
Yes. DigitallyU Scrapbook allows you to create four different scrapbooks for different audiences if you like.
Is it easy to launch a Web site? top
Yes. Once you complete your portfolio and export it, you click on the "Publish" button and fill in only three units of information. First-your domain name. Second-your user name. Third-your password recognized by your Internet service provider. This process is illustrated nicely in our animated Help section.
What does "exporting" my DigitallyU Scrapbook mean? top
When you drop your photos or video content into your DigitallyU Scrapbook you must export it before you launch or publish your Web site. Exporting is an automatic internal DigitallyU Scrapbook function that’s triggered when you click on one button (“Export”). The Export button pushes all your content like a plunger into your MyDocuments folder. In your MyDocuments folder you’ll see your entire DigitallyU Scrapbook waiting for you to either; a)copy your Web site folders to your Web space and launch your Web site; or b.)click on the index.htm file just to view your Scrapbook if you don’t want to use the Web. Also, when you look in your MyDocuments folder, you’ll see an instruction file that is also helpful before you launch your Web site.
What do I do with my DigitallyU Scrapbook after I build it and put it on the Web? top
Once you publish your DigitallyU Scrapbook on the Web you can send your link via email to family or friends, or just show it face-to-face.
When I buy DigitallyU Scrapbook do I get free Web space to launch my Web site? top
No. DigitallyU is a desktop software application/Web authoring tool that allows you to build a Web site and launch it, or give a face-to-face presentation. We do not provide Web space. You must obtain it.
